PDF documents are stored at a certain resolution, which mainly affects the quality of the images, and the file size. As more quality has more occupies, but the photos look better on large screens, and can be printed.
PDFs offered on web pages tend to have low resolution, so they look good on a screen, but they are not suitable for printing.
On the contrary, you may have a high quality PDF but it takes a lot, and you need to reduce it to upload it to a web page.
In this basic tutorial we show how to change the resolution of a PDF.
Applications with integrated PDF
Many office suites such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, or graphic design programs, integrate the PDF format. This means that whatever project you create with them, you can store it in PDF format.
All work similarly. You have to look for the Preferences option in the application menus, and find the option that allows you to change the resolution of the PDF. In some cases this can also be done by saving the PDF. In the save window you will see an option to adjust the quality.
A third possibility is the Export to option, which is usually in the File menu. If the Export to PDF variant exists, the option to set the PDF quality will appear in the export window, as in LibreOffice:
Print as PDF
If you have installed a virtual printer on your computer (an application that behaves like a printer but does not print on paper, but on a PDF document), when used, you can select the quality of the PDF.
Virtual printers are useful because any document that can be printed from anywhere can be converted to PDF.
How to unlock a PDF
Protecting a PDF with a password does not guarantee that anyone can read it. In fact it is quite easy to check out a PDF to see its content, if the protection is weak.
If you want to maintain the privacy of a PDF, instead of adding a password it is safer to encrypt the document, with some encryption software.
That said, maybe you have in your hands a PDF that you want to check out. Maybe you have forgotten your password, or you need a text or an image that you want to print.
In this tutorial we will show you how to unlock a PDF, to extract its content. For this we will use an online service, SmallPDF, which is free, is in Spanish and works well. But you must be clear that this implies uploading the document to the Internet. If it contains private or critical information, don’t do it. Nevertheless, Small PDF ensures that it does not read or share the documents it unlocks with anyone, and deletes them from its servers within a few hours.
First, access the SmallPDF website. From the link you go directly to the section Unlock PDF:
All you have to do is drag the protected PDF file from a folder on your computer to the fuchsia center box. With the buttons on the right you can search the PDF in your Dropbox or Google Drive account.
To make sure you’re not doing anything illegal, it forces you to promise that the PDF is yours, or you have permission to unlock it
